Fiscal Sponsorship

Thrive offers a limited number of fiscal sponsorships to non-USA and USA groups with a mission surrounding plant-based food systems, environmentalism or climate change, animal welfare or rights, veganism, food justice, racial food justice, or similar. Apply below.
Fiscal sponsorship does not include a grant or financial support from Thrive.

  • A fiscal sponsorship enables a group or individual without USA 501c3 nonprofit status to accept USA tax-deductible donations and grants from USA donors that require 501c3 status.

As a fiscal sponsor, Thrive Philanthropy will accept donations on your behalf, offer a USA-tax deductible donor receipt, and redirect the donation directly to you. Thrive does not offer mentorship, fundraising advice, financial support, or assistance with launching a 501c3. Our fiscal sponsorship is more suitable for organizations that are expecting fewer large donations rather than expecting a lot of small donations.

Fiscal sponsorships are only available to groups that avoid exploiting or harming animals and uphold Thrive’s safespace and whistleblower protection policy.

  • Thrive requests a 10% fee to cover all the bank wire and administrative expenses that we incur while processing your sponsorship.

We also request a $250 USD onboarding fee, this fee is waived if funding has bee committed to the sponsee at time of onboarding.

  • Please click the “Apply” button below.
We aim to respond to applications within 2-4 weeks, but if it’s urgent or if you have other questions, please write info@thrivephilanthropy.org.

We prioritize organizations that are currently expecting funding. And unfortunately, due to limited resources, we’re unable to accept every application.

Please note, due to seasonal schedules, there will be longer delays during the following months: January, April, July, October.

  • No, a fiscal sponsorship is different than receiving a grant from Thrive Philanthropy and applying for a fiscal sponsorship does not mean that you will receive a Thrive grant. If you are interested in applying for a grant from Thrive, please learn more here.

  • At this time, we do not offer this level of support. If you are seeking a more hands-on mentorship fiscal sponsor, Thrive might not be the best fit for you.

Thrive is offering a fiscal sponsorship model that closely resembles “Model C”. We provide compliance for your donations but the Sponsee still manages all the operations work. You can learn more about this from the Non Profit Financial Commons.

As a fiscal sponsor, Thrive does not offer mentorship, fundraising support, financial support, legal support, support with launching a 501c3, or any other type of operations support.

Special note for Africa-based organizations:
Due to the high volume of applications we receive from Africa, we currently restrict fiscal sponsorships to Africa-based organizations that have been a Thrive grantee for 1 year and/or have a long track record of success. We thank you for your understanding!
