Meghan O’Brien Lowery is CEO of MegLow Consulting, a firm that provides a variety of support services to philanthropists and those working in the non-profit space to create more impact and change. She also serves as a Director and Partner at The Greenbaum Foundation, a private non-operating foundation that focuses on ending factory farming and reimagining a more sustainable food system.
Meghan has spent the past two decades working in the philanthropic and non-profit space cultivating a unique perspective and voice around grant making and fundraising. Her past experience working in health, social services, climate change and animals has shaped her approach to philanthropic giving. She is fascinated by the intersection of animal, human and environmental injustices, where these issues often collide and create an immense amount of suffering. Meghan has expertise in vetting which non-profits will make the best use of your charitable donations and be the most sustainable, teaching best-practices in non-profit governance, creating systems, process and procedures for philanthropic giving, and building funder networks and trainings.
Meghan started her career as an actress and musician, studying musical theatre through undergrad and graduate school and then working professionally in that sector. She then built on these skills by becoming a teacher of communication and public speaking at the Borough of Manhattan Community College where she empowered her students to embrace the art of storytelling. While later working in the financial sector, Meghan had time to further develop and refine the curriculum she had created to be used more broadly by philanthropists, advocates and community organizers. Meghan has provided training in public speaking and effective communication to individuals all over the globe. She has extensive experience working with professionals at all levels of their careers on almost every continent.
Meghan LOVES relational literacy, any book on emotional intelligence, learning about trauma and how it informs our decisions, organizational theories for internal and external use, Esther Perel, therapy, animal videos and her family. She is a step-mother to two incredible boys and a bio mom to a third son. Meghan is a wife, daughter, sister, cousin, advocate, leader and lover of words. She is very GOOD at losing her airpods and quite BAD at cooking.
